Life Currently: Still Here
It took sometime for me to write again here. There had been personal stuff going on that I had to prioritize. I guess it's just that now, unlike years back, I don't pressure myself to write something. It's not like an obligatory thing of sorts.
So before I'm engulfed by the holiday mayhem and busy-ness of more personal stuff, I will attempt to post one at a time of the stuff that keep me sane and alive. I know this site is something I intend to make as a travel, food and lifestyle page. But once in a while, a dash of my persona wouldn't hurt even.
Current Habit: Introverting
Well, my closest folks will def not disagree on this for sure. They know me to be a person who can socialize, but most of the time, just be with a small circle or at best, solo. This year seems to me some of friends and constants had their own priorities to deal with --- changing statuses, companies and places.
Given I'm not a "too pushy" person in asking if they can go or hangout with me, I had this appreciation and acceptance on introverting and enjoying my me time. Usually on weekends, it's my social battery charging days. Whether it's simply going to the grocery or just plain chilling in a coffee shop while reading a book or creating mini content, I make sure to squeeze one.
Currently Reading: Simplify by Bo Sanchez
Months ago, one of my fave authors and inspirational speakers launched a new book and I was in luck to be able to see him in a quick up close encounter, thanks to his book signing event. Well, he usually launches it at The Feast and it was timely I attended that one Sunday.
Reading this book has also been timely for me, as it was the wake up call I just needed. It talks about various facets in life —- personal, financial, spiritual — that we tend to complicate sometimes. It also has portions of reflections that would really make one stop and think —- do we really need a lot? Do we really have to have certain things just to be complete and happy?
If you’re not much of a bookworm and you’d want to read self help type of books that are direct to the point, I recommend you to read this one. More so, if you’re the phase of reflecting on certain areas of your life that don’t sound like a broken record or nagger, this book has got you.
Currently Listening:
a) Podcast --- Solo Flight Podcast with Nicole Andersson
Lately, I’m getting less hooked with binging on Netflix or other viewing apps. I only watch on weekends or every other weekend which kinda makes me reconsider now if I should still keep those apps in 2025.
What keeps me company while doing my daily work now are more on podcasts. I have a few podcasts I regularly listen to (I will share this in my next posts *crossing fingers*). Recently though there’s one that caught my attention that now is part of my list.
Nicole is one of the few lifestyle bloggers I used to follow before and I used to just come across her podcast as I browse on Spotify. However, what made me eventually listen to her was when I listened to the episode she had with one of her closest friends and lifestyle blogger too, Lissa Kahayon. That episode made me get hooked on her podcast now and I listen to it. Well, that particular episode was so relatable for me, but I’d rather let you guys listen to it to know what I actually mean. Though Nicole is currently single and her podcast’s target market are single folks, I suggest that even if you are in relationships now give it a go to listen too.
b) Songs --- The Bruno Mars Effect: Die With A Smile (with Lady Gaga) and APT (with Rose)
Never has it come across my mind that two global artists like Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars would collaborate for a single and produce such a good song. I just learned about their song on IG when I heard a portion of it. However, the tunes just caught me so that’s when I started listening to the entire song. Surprisingly, their voices blended so well and they weren’t outshining each other. Plus, the lyrics also hit me like how I wish I could sing this with someone for a duet.
And weeks ago, another Bruno Mars collab bomb dropped, but this time with Blackpink's Aussie gal, Rose. Coined from a drinking game and a loaned word in Korean, APT or Apateu (meaning apartment) has been playing in my head for days already. The catchy tunes and lyrics would put nostalgia to the millenials most especially. Kid you not, Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" came first to mind when I first heard this song. Even the motif of their vid was so 90's to early 2000's kind of vibe.
Currently Watching:
a) Masterchef Australia S16
To those close to me, it’s a no brainer that I am an avid fan of this show. I started watching this 7 years ago, when it was broadcasted on a cable channel. Fast forward to 2024, the latest season ended with new judges and even if in the eyes of many they see this to be quite repetitive, maybe for a foodie and a person who somehow turned to appreciate cooking, that’s like a Kdrama you anticipate to watch regularly.
For this season, just nice that one of those I rooted for actually won. Now though, I end up going to my room earlier than usual cause there’s not much good to watch hehe
b) Beauty and Mr Romantic
On weekends, since these are my errands and plain relax days, I rarely watch tv too. It so happened my mom and I came across this on weekend evenings and we’ve watched the episodes from start to finish.
This ain’t the usual 16-episode kind of series if you’re a Kdrama fan. It’s 50 episodes in total. Overall, if you’re looking for the kind of plot twists like The Glory, Squid Games or Hometown Chachacha, this ain’t it. But if you just want a typical family themed kinda show, then you might survive this one.
c) Culinary Class Wars (via Netflix)
Been seeing this trend on social media for quite a while already, so my curiosity led me to this. Given I'm an avid viewer of food or travel related variety / reality shows, it's no brainer I would give this a look and see if I can tolerate watching till the end. Though the end wasn't what I exactly wanted (ok, I'll end it here..no spoilers), it was still a feel good watch.
The fact I got to see how Korean chefs are making their mark on the culinary industry and learning a few tricks here and there, especially for Korean ingredients, that's already a good reason to watch it.
Current Feels: Bipolar
A little disclaimer, I'm not using this terminology cause I'm clinically diagnosed to be one. Lately, this term is becoming a household word for mixed up feelings that are downright opposite.
Just like everybody else, there are a lot of things going on in my life. Highs and lows, but because some of them are crazily abrupt, it's caused me to have an abrupt wave of emotions too. Worse, there were ounces of trust lost in the people around me and the beauty of life. It would be quite complex to explain, plus this is quite on a personal level already. I don't want to make people be influenced on this side of me, but I'm not shutting up my feelings either.
For now, what matters is the acknowledgement that life isn't always rainbows and butterflies. We may not find the answers on how to deal with these things going on, but a little at a time, life and fate will reveal how will they exactly be figured out.
A few more posts to go before we wrap up season 2024. We'll get thru this.
